Thomas John Giffin Foundation
The mission/vision of the Thomas John Giffin Foundation, a 501(c)(3) established in 2015, is to offer comfort to families who lose children because of death by:
· granting financial assistance with funeral expenses
· offering grief support from a certified grief counselor
· providing moderate grants for families to memorialize children
· allocating funds to families for respite during times of grief
The TJ5K & Family Fun Run, in its ninth year, is the primary funding source for the Foundation. The organization, tiny-k Early Intervention, has been and continues to be a beneficiary of this event. Over the last eight years, over $36,000 has been raised to assist children birth to three years of age and their families in a variety of ways.

tiny-k Early Intervention
Tiny-k Early Intervention provides services to support families of children from birth to age three who have been diagnosed with potential delay or disability. The Giffin family received services through tiny-k.
The Thomas John Giffin Foundation continues to give back to the program each year. The Foundation provided tiny-k Early Intervention a $3,500 donation made possible by the 2020 TJ5K & Family Fun Run.
The TJ5K & Family Fun Run was initiated in 2013 and has raised more than $36,000 for tiny-k!
These funds are used to provide scholarships to children in the tiny-k program who need extensive socialization prior to starting preschool. Opportunities include toddler classes through the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department and placement in Kids’ Day Out programs where children practice communicating and interacting with their peers in a structured environment.

A Race for Everyone
5K TRAIL RUN
The trail is a grass course winding through a beautiful rural setting. It includes a flat running surface as well as a gradual incline, making the second half of the course more challenging than the first.
1-MILE RUN/WALK
The 1-mile course winds inside the 5k trail. A pond is part of the pastoral setting one will see. This is a great course for beginning runners or those who want to enjoy a relaxing walk in a beautiful setting.
It is a great trail for family participation.
“tiny-k” FUN RUN
The “tiny-k” has a course all its own and is fun for the kids. You will find parents and grandparents watching and cheering on their little runners. Who could resist? Awesome goody bags and medals await each participant.
